Karaga Senior High School (SHS) in the Karaga district of the Northern region of Ghana is on fire as tension is mounted between some students and teachers over seized phones and laptops belonging to students.
An unannounced inspection was carried out in the school leading to the seizing of about 200 mobile phones, ear phones, chargers and laptops which were allegedly confiscated and burnt to ashes.
This exercise by the teachers was justified by the fact that they have been urged to use tough measures to deter students from bringing such devices to school.
The students has also debated that the devices is used as a communication medium to reach out to their family since the school do not have boarding facilities.
This development according to sources has generated some controversy in the school. This action has outraged the students to violently attack some teachers.
The district police of the community have invaded the school compound to restore peace.
